Ajay Shah NIPFP
Dr. Ajay Shah is a Professor at the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPFP). His research interests include policy issues on Indian economic growth, open economy macroeconomics, public finance, financial economics and pensions. He has previously held positions at the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (Mumbai) and the Ministry of Finance. Prof. Shah has been a part of many committees in finance, namely he was a member of the Ministry of Finance Task Force on Construction of Financial Redress Agency in 2015, Chairman of the Department of Posts Expert Committee on Role of Post Offices in Financial Inclusion in 2009 and had also been a virtual member of the Planning Commission Committee on Financial Sector Reforms, chaired by Raghuram Rajan in 2009. In the past decade, he has been extensively involved in the policy process in the reforms of the equity market and the New Pension System. Prof. Shah has an undergraduate degree in Aeronautical Engineering from IIT Bombay and a PhD in Economics from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
