Pawan Bakhshi BMGF
Dr. Pawan Bakhshi is the India Country Lead for the Financial Services for the Poor Program at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He focuses on how to efficiently and effectively deliver digital financial services to the poor which can be scaled to national levels while partnering with the Government, regulators and private sector players.
Prior to joining the foundation, he worked with MicroSave, where he advised mobile money strategies across South Asia and East Africa.
Earlier he co-led SingTel’s program on mobile commerce and digital financial services across seven countries. At Bharti Airtel, he co-created India’s first mobile wallet service called Airtel Money and later incubated the Transformation Track for providing Airtel Money services for the social sector covering people from the bottom of the pyramid.
Dr. Bakhshi has a Ph.D. in Management Studies from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University and a B.A. in Economics from Delhi University.
