Trisha Ghoshal is AVP- Insights at CIIE.CO, India’s premier entrepreneurship platform based at IIM Ahmedabad. She is committed to gathering and disseminating evidence that sheds light on the scope, need, and potential solutions for the financial inclusion of under-served populations.

In the past, Trisha has supported research fellowships led by prominent academics, industry practitioners, and domain experts addressing a range of themes, that include- (1) understanding the financial needs, behaviors, and portfolios of under-served constituencies like MSMEs, migrant laborers, farmers, and the urban poor, (2) evaluating ways to bridge the insurance gap in India through product creation (e.g. community-based models of insurance), distribution (e.g. meso-level insurance for farmers in FPOs), and proper disclosure (e.g. design and delivery of customer nudges and financial education), and (3) developing intuitive, capability enhancing digital financial solutions for underserved customer micro-segments.

Most recently, she has worked closely with leading academic experts on a large-scale data-backed study of pathways to financial inclusion and the transformation of households in rural India. Current analyses show the effect of women’s bank account ownership on their participation in household decision-making processes, and second order effects on economic and coping strategies of households.

Trisha has contributed to numerous reports, cases, blogs, and infographics that translate research findings into actionable insights for founders, policymakers, and other key stakeholders in the financial inclusion arena. Her current area of research focus is on fintech solutions for women’s financial inclusion. She is working in collaboration with incumbent ecosystem partners, founders, and domain experts to catalyze the creation and market validation of gender-intentional solutions for women in under-served segments.

Trisha has a Master’s degree and an MPhil in Development Studies from TISS.
