Abhishek is a Research Associate with the Social Protection Initiative. He takes keen interest in mobility, spatial analysis, and rural development. Prior to Dvara Research, he was working as a Research Associate at Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, where he worked on developing sustainable framework for gold mining as an opportunity for rural development in India. He holds a Master’s in Economics from Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics.
This blog presents key insights from the second round of the survey report, NAFIS 2021-22, and finds that the rural households’ investment portfolio continues to be dominated by physical assets, which is in contrast with the predominance of formal debt on the liabilities side of the household balance sheets.
